A PEACEFUL AND JOYFUL WEEK
where Latin will be our common language. For the Latin language is even today the living language of the Church; it is a key which opens the spiritual treasury of the entire Christian era. During this week we will have a unique opportunity to speak and understand Latin better, and to strengthen our love of God and our Catholic Faith.
YOU WILL STAY
in an old monastery at Holy Hill and the Basilica of the National Shrine of Mary, Help of Christians, 1525 Carmel Road, Hubertus, Wisconsin. Holy Hill was once deposited here by a glacier. Now the beautiful Basilica built on top of it overlooks forest and farmland all around. It was declared a Shrine with Portiuncula privilege by Pope Leo XIII in 1903. Thus, for those who visit the basilica, a plenary indulgence may be obtained, under the usual conditions. In the course of the years, many sick, blind, crippled, deaf, and disabled have been cured here. The shrine is very advantageous for contemplation, and thus religious pilgrims are greatly attracted to it. Very good food will be served to you breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The bedrooms are pleasant and clean. The cost to stay is very reasonable; room and meals are included in the one price.
DON’T BE NERVOUS
Using the living Latin language will not be difficult for you, because we proceed in a different way. (If this is the first time you are coming to a Cenaculum, a small dictionary might be helpful.) Come without the fear of making errors. There are no critics among us. In the company of others you will experience Latin as a truly living language, completely suitable for the times in which we live. With practice you will learn useful expressions for cultivating Latin conversation. By speaking together, listening, and laughing, the Latin we knew from our previous studies will be liberated and transformed into a real means of communication.
COME
for the good of Holy Mother Church, for the good of Catholic Culture, for our own good.
